Lake Engure

Description Routes Places Boat rental Pay attention!

Lake Engure – the third largest lake in Latvia by area, located between Mērsrags, Bērzciems and also touches the Engure.

Active recreation opportunities:

  • Several boat bases are located on the shores of the lake, offering opportunities to go fishing or enjoy trips along the shallow waters of the lake.
  • For fans of SUP boards and kayaks, a trip through the reed labyrinths will be a special pleasure. A popular SUP route is the Mērsrags Canal, which connects Lake Engure and the sea
  • By the lake there is the Lake Engure nature trail, where wild horses and cows can be found, as well as a bird watching tower – this is one of the richest bird nesting sites in Latvia. The Orchid Trail is also nearby (with a visit to the observation tower 5km)
