Usma Lake
Usma Lake is located in the Usma parish of Ventspils municipality and borders the Kuldīga and Talsi municipalities. Viskūži Island in the lake is the largest lake island in Latvia — 309.2 ha. It has been a nature reserve since 2004. In 1912, the first reserve in Latvia was established - Moricsala Reserve, including part of the lake - Luziķerti and Lielalksnīte Island. Usma Lake is a popular fishing and sailing destination, more than 14 campsites and recreation centers operate around the lake.
Active recreation opportunities:
- There is one public, well-maintained swimming area with a playground, recreation area, volleyball courts and changing cabins. Landmark - Usma Manor
- Boat and SUP board rental, yacht trips, sailing, recreation areas, tent and trailer sites, as well as swimming areas are offered by campsites and recreation centers
- Fishing is allowed in the lake, and there are 9 species of fish in it.
- Cycling route 559 runs around the lake. The route allows you to enjoy the landscapes surrounding Lake Usma for 50 kilometers, crossing 3 counties.
